At Inner Wave, I offer a suite of services designed to support healing, self-discovery, and lasting change.

One of these is Havening Techniques®—a gentle, evidence-informed approach that helps reduce the emotional impact of stressful or traumatic memories (often experienced as “triggers”). Through soothing touch and guided processes, Havening works to calm the nervous system and support the brain’s natural capacity for repair. You can learn more about this in the About Havening section.

Alongside this, I offer complementary health coaching while I complete my training. Health coaching can work beautifully alongside Havening or as a standalone support. It is a collaborative process where you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you—supporting your self-discovery and helping you develop practical, sustainable strategies for change.

What draws me to both of these approaches is a shared belief: that you are inherently capable of healing, growth, and change. This work is grounded in empowerment—supporting you to step out of being a passive participant in your wellbeing and into a more active, confident role in your own journey.

If you’d like to explore Havening, health coaching, or a combination of both, you’re warmly invited to get in touch via email or book a free discovery call below.

I look forward to working alongside you as you reconnect with your strengths and realise your full capabilities.

About Me - Jo

In 2009 I packed up my life in the UK and moved to New Zealand, where I now live with my two wonderful daughters.

My professional path began in nursing, where I spent 16 years working closely with people at some of the most vulnerable points in their lives. That experience shaped how I show up today, with compassion, respect, and a deep commitment to meeting people exactly where they are. I currently work as a Programme Manager within Health NZ, where I lead system-level change. After some turbulent times within the health system, I felt a strong pull to reconnect with the part of my work that first inspired me, supporting people directly in their personal journeys.

That pull led me to expand my practice into complementary health coaching, alongside my work as a Havening Techniques® practitioner. While I continue my training as a health coach, this approach allows me to walk alongside people in a different way—supporting insight, behaviour change, and sustainable wellbeing. It also beautifully complements Havening, creating a more holistic and empowering experience.

Like many people, my own journey hasn’t been without challenge. One of the most significant was navigating postnatal depression after the birth of my daughters. I wasn’t just looking for relief, I wanted to understand what was happening within me, and how to move forward with more ease, clarity, and joy.

That search led me into personal growth work and psychotherapy, where I first experienced Havening®. After just one session, something shifted. I felt a lightness and release that changed how I met both the difficult moments and the joys of parenting. I knew then that this was something I wanted to learn and share with others.

What draws me to both Havening and health coaching is a shared belief: that you are not broken, and you are not lacking. You already hold the capacity for healing, growth, and change. My role is not to “fix,” but to create a safe, supportive space where you can reconnect with your own strengths, gain clarity, and move forward in a way that feels right for you.

I feel deeply privileged to do this work. Whether through Havening, health coaching, or a blend of both, I look forward to walking alongside you as you rediscover your capabilities and take an active role in your own wellbeing.

Havening® is a gentle, touch-based approach designed to help your mind and body feel safe again after stress or trauma. It works by using soothing, simple touch, on your arms, hands, or face, combined with specific techniques that help shift how your brain stores distressing memories, thoughts, and feelings.

Think of it as giving your nervous system a signal that says, “It’s okay now, you can rest.” Over time, this can reduce the emotional charge connected to past experiences, ease anxiety, and create more space for calm, clarity, and resilience.

It’s not about “erasing” your story or forcing change. It’s about helping you feel lighter, more grounded, and better able to meet life’s challenges in the present moment. Many people describe Havening sessions as surprisingly relaxing, like a deep exhale for your mind and body.

What is Havening®

I am currently training as a health coach with PreKure.

What draws me to health coaching is its focus on partnership. It’s about walking alongside you, supporting and empowering you to create meaningful, sustainable change in your life.

Health coaching recognises that change is not linear. There will be ups and downs, and at times you may feel like you’ve gone backwards, but that’s a natural part of the process. What matters most is continuing forward, building awareness, and learning what works for you.

At its core, health coaching is about you. You are the expert in your own life. My role is to support your self-discovery, help you uncover your strengths, and work with you to develop practical strategies that align with your goals and values..
